When can I visit the ships?
Ship Tours will be conducted daily (with some exceptions) from 9:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Tuesday, April 27th – Sunday, May 2nd. Anyone who desires a tour, must pre-register.

How do I register?
You will be able to register starting in mid-March, using this website. Upon registering, you will receive a reservation that you will need to print. The reservation identifies the date, time and ship that you will tour. Read it carefully and bring it with you, along with your photo ID, in order to gain entrance to the port. Please note: The reservation is issued contingent upon a background check by Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO).

What is a valid photo ID?
A current driver’s license or passport is considered valid ID.

What should I wear to the ships?
Visitors should plan on wearing comfortable clothing - pants are suggested for females. If you are bringing a handbag or camera case it will be searched as you check-in. Remember to bring sunscreen and sunglasses. A ship is an industrial environment, so avoid high-heels, open-toed shoes and sandals, and wear shoes with low, rubberized soles. Also avoid necklaces that can get caught, and bags that will be too heavy to comfortably carry all day or too large to impact your ability to climb steep stairs/ladders with both hands.

What entrance should I take at the port?
The I-595 entrance to Eller Dr. is the preferred entrance. Please be prepared to show your reservation and photo ID to the guard as you enter through the gate.

Can I arrive early?
Yes, you are encouraged to come early, with a reminder that you will encounter heavy traffic and security delays as you enter the port. Please plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled time.

Where do we park?
Cars and vans will be directed to the Mid-Port parking garage, which is near the terminals where the ships are berthed. The fee for parking is $5 for less than 5 hours. Buses will be directed to specific parking areas near terminal 26.

How do we get onboard the ships?
Check-In at Terminal 24 (Terminal 26 for the USS Iwo Jima only) at least 15 minutes before your scheduled tour. Everyone must go through a security check prior to accessing any ship. The security check is similar to what is present at most airports, and consists of a walk-through metal detector or wand scan. All bags are subject to search and must be scanned prior to entering the pier. You will be directed to a “holding area” marked by the ship’s name. Once the entire group has gathered, 2 sailors will escort the group through the terminal and onto the designated ship.

Is there an age requirement to visit the ships?
Yes, there is a minimum age requirement of 8 years to tour U.S. Navy Ships during Fleet Week at Port Everglades. Tours are not deemed appropriate for small children, due to the steep ladders and stairways and uneven surfaces that they would encounter during a ship tour.

Are the ships handicapped accessible?
No, Fleet Week ships are not handicapped accessible.

Are there any physical requirements to visit the ships?
There may be steep ladders (stairways) to climb and narrow passageways to traverse during a ship tour. Ship tours may not be appropriate for individuals with heart conditions, breathing difficulties, or other medical conditions impacting their ability to navigate such challenges.

What items are allowed on the ships?
Small hand-carried items such as handbags or small cameras are permitted as long as they are no larger than 1 foot long x 8 inches tall x 6 inches wide. All persons and baggage are subject to search upon entering or departing the check-in area.

What items are not allowed on the ships?
The following are not permitted: food, bottles, cans or containers of any type; umbrellas; banners, posters or signs of any type; mace, pepper spray, or other defensive sprays or chemicals; knives, firearms, fireworks or any explosive; illegal drugs or paraphernalia; flammable liquids or aerosol spray cans; club weapons; and animals (with the exception of service animals). All electronic devices are subject to examination for functionality. The U.S. Navy reserves the right to prohibit other items not listed above. Please note that anyone with a firearm (even with a permit) will be subject to arrest anywhere within the port.

May I take photographs on the ships?
Yes, photography is permitted onboard the ships during the tours. Pictures of the security personnel or procedures are prohibited.

How long is the tour?
Tours are typically 45-50 minutes long.

Is smoking allowed on the ships?
No. There is no smoking onboard any ship or anywhere on the pier.

Is there any food available during the ship visitation?
No food is available on the ships, but visitors will be able to purchase water and possibly some food items at concession stands on the piers. Only clear bottles of water will be allowed. The concession stand on the pier is to purchase drinks while on the pier only.

Are souvenirs available for purchase?
Souvenirs from the ships will be available for sale (cash only) in the terminal 21 overhang area (on your way back to the parking garage). Please visit this area after your tour to insure that you have free use of your hands during the tour.
