Shore leave is always welcomed by our service members after long months at sea, but Fleet Week Port Everglades also provides plenty of options for both recreation and vocational development.

Teams from visiting ships compete in the annual Damage Control Olympics, a challenging day-long event confronting the hazards faced at sea. Dozens of men and women "ride along" with Broward Sheriff's Office deputies and emergency response units to explore future career opportunities.

Parties are always popular, including the All Hands on Deck welcoming party at the Seminole Paradise in Hollywood and the Himmarshee Village Block Party. Both public events allow thousands of local residents to personally thank our service members for their selfless dedication to our country.

A 5K race, Major League Baseball games, culinary competitions and deep-sea fishing and golf tournaments are just a few of the other recreational options rounding out the busy Fleet Week Port Everglades schedule.
